At Polly's, we offer many appraisal options designed to fit your specific needs. Our staff includes GIA Graduate Gemologists and GIA Diamond Graduates, all of whom have completed the best training available in the jewelry industry. We offer appraisals on items purchased from Polly's as well as on jewelry items purchased elsewhere and pieces from family collections.

Jewelry Appraisals at Polly’s

At Polly’s, our appraisal services are designed to provide the detailed documentation needed to properly insure your fine jewelry collection. Each appraisal includes a comprehensive description of the item along with a current estimated replacement value. Copies are provided for both you and your insurance provider.

Items purchased over 5 years ago: 50% off current appraisal pricing

All items must be inspected in person by our appraiser at any Polly’s location.

Outside Purchases & Family Jewelry

$150 – First item
$90 – Each additional item
$75 – Basic gold items (chains, bangles, bracelets; no stones or intricate designs, priced by weight)

Appraisals are available by appointment at all Polly’s locations. Items may also be dropped off for completion. Timing may vary based on volume, and a completion date will be provided at drop-off.

Please note: Appraisals for outside purchases may be limited during peak holiday periods.

Jewelry Box Assessment
If you have a collection of jewelry and aren’t sure what you have or where to start, our Jewelry Box Assessment is a helpful first step. During your appointment, a trained team member will assist in sorting through your pieces, identifying materials (such as gold, silver, or plated items), and offering guidance on next steps. This may include recommendations for appraisals, repairs, or redesign opportunities, along with answering any questions you have about your collection. Please note that written appraisals and statements of value or worth are additional.

An appraisal for insurance purposes is available at no charge for any item purchased at Polly's. The insurance appraisal will include a complete description of the item as well as an estimated replacement value. Copies of the appraisal will be provided for you and your insurance company, in case you wish to have the item covered by your homeowners, renters, or a separate jewelry policy. We will automatically provide an appraisal for any new purchase over $1,000. Appraisals on new purchases under $1,000 are provided upon request.For previous Polly's purchases (over 90 days), we will provide or update an insurance appraisal at no charge for items purchased within the last 5 years. For items purchased at Polly's more than 5 years ago, we offer a 50% discount on the current appraisal fee. To complete the appraisal, the item must be inspected by an appraiser at any Polly's location.

Our appraisal services are designed to provide the information you need to properly insure your fine jewelry collection. For all appraised items, the documentation includes detailed descriptions as well as current estimated replacement values, with copies provided for you and your insurance company. Pricing for insurance appraisals begins at $95 and is based on the number and nature of the pieces being appraised. For your convenience we offer appraisals by appointment at all Polly's locations. Additionally, pieces may be dropped off with us and picked up when the appraisal is complete. For pieces dropped off, approximate turn-around time is five business days; however it can vary depending on volume. An exact completion date will be provided when the item is dropped off.(Please note that we are unable to offer appraisals on outside purchases during some holiday periods due to extremely high volume).

One of our most frequently asked questions is, “I have a jewelry box full of things, and i don't know what they are or what to do with them. Can you help me?” Jewelry collections build over time and from lots of different sources. When you need help simply figuring out what you have and what the next step is, we’re ready to help with a Jewelry Box Asessment. During the assessment, one of our trained staff members will help you sort out your jewelry collection, whatever form it’s in. These appointments typically include basic cleaning of items as they allow, identifying and distinguishing between basic materials (i.e. gold, silver, gold-plate, etc.), recommendations regarding insurance appraisals, repairs needed, options for resetting or repurposing items, and answering questions you have about your collection to the extent we are able. Jewelry Box Assessments are $100 per hour and are available by appointment at any Polly’s location. Please note that written appraisals and statements of value or worth are additional.
